The Boules afternoon is on Saturday the 20th of September followed by a Basket supper (Sausage & Chips, Chicken & Chips or Veggie Lasagne & Chips).
The event will start at 2.30 for 3pm and probably last for around 4 hours.
So that we don’t have to worry about the long walk home the event will be hosted at the White Lion. All kit will be provided and expert instruction will be on hand. Tickets will be £7.00 including food.
This year we will be holding the “Annual Nosh” towards the end of November. In a change from our last announcement we are now planning to hold this event at the White Hart on Saturday 25th November. Tickets will be £13.50.
This year’s visit to Sucé was a great success and thoroughly enjoyed by all. Many thanks to Celia for her efforts in getting everything organised.
We left Cricklade at 4.30pm on the Friday 23rd May - thence to Portsmouth and a tranquil crossing to Cherbourg with overnight accommodation.
Arrived Sucé just after midday on Saturday for a small reception hosted by the Mayor. The rest of the day spent with host families indulging in BBQs etc. Sunday. Back on the coach and off to the Puy de Fou theme park, an historical attraction south of Nantes. Here we enjoyed a number of tableaux including one amazing display with some 100+ birds of prey.
Monday. Breton pancakes (the savoury ones are galettes and the sweet ones are crepes) and clog dancing at the Marina.
Tuesday. Time to go home. The mandatory stop at the hypermarket (everyone was for once back on the coach on time! – ed). Daylight crossing to Portsmouth serenaded by a choir from Wootton Bassett. Back in Cricklade just before the witching midnight hour when the coachman would have turned into an ordinary mortal and left us to walk home.
Our friends will be visiting us on the weekend of 29th October 2004. Preparations are already in hand. Please put it in your diary.
The Champagne and Strawberries Afternoon on Sunday the 8th of June was a great success We got through far more Champagne than anticipated and demolished all the strawberries, to the chagrin of those who where waiting for the glorious sunshine to make them even more delicious.
