The Boules Tournament this year was held at the White Lion, Cricklade. Many thanks to the White Lion for hosting the tournament, which was also part of the Cricklade Festival.
The Tournament was a great success despite the best endeavours of the British weather. Thanks to Celia Binfield for providing the pavilions that kept us dry when we were not on Piste. Fortunately despite a few attempts none of the pavilions disappeared skywards.
The turn out was a little down due to the weather but we still had 12 teams competing.
The White Lion (Alan, Jon and Pete) team emerged victorious in a close fought final with the Three Dust Bunnies from Paris team (Chris, Michael and Penny Faulkner) despite the excellent coaching the Dust Bunnies received from the Welsh family.
The coveted Wooden Spoon was disputed between the Stinton Trio and Ivor, Yvonne and Linda, with the Stinton Trio emerging as the new holders.
Finally a big thank you to John Wright for organising the Tournament and the practice sessions. Although John is regrettably moving away from Cricklade, we hope we may still be able to lure him back to run the tournament next year. In thanks for the excellent organisation this year, John was presented with a bottle of whiskey.
This wasn't really a fund raising event, but we did manage to make a small contribution to the Cricklade Festival.

Sounds dangerous, but actually is a lot of fun – we will be holding this event on the 24th of September.
We are hoping to make this a big fund raising event, so please encourage your friends to come along. We will provide food. More details nearer the time.
The event will be held in the Cricklade Town Hall Annex and tickets will be £7.50 each. This covers one glass of wine, the wine for tasting and food - French bread, cheese and pate.
