Cricklade Twinning  Newsletter - Issue 106
May 2019

We are still looking for new committee members, so if you would like to volunteer contact Chris at chair@crickladetwinning.org.uk or phone 07710075406. Feel free to join us at our committee meetings if you are interested in becoming a committee member and would like to get a feel for how little it involves (details below).

Cricklade Festival Bottle Stall - Sunday June 16th

We will be running a Bottle Stall again at the Cricklade Festival

We will need lots of bottles to run our bottle stall successfully, we need a few good bottles, but other bottles also make for a good stall. Your generosity will be greatly appreciated

To donate a bottle(s), please deliver them to 19 Pauls Croft. Alternatively, deliver them to 6 Home Ground.

The stall will be outside 45 High Street (next door to C&R Grocers).

We also need volunteers to look after the stall. This is especially important this year as some of us will be away cycling from St Malo to Nice. We appreciate that our members are often involved in several stalls, but the odd hour does allow the stalwarts to take a break. So, if you could email me (chair@ crickladetwinning.org.uk) and let me know what period you can be on the stall, that would be wonderful.

We will be setting up the stall from 9am

Twinning Visit to Sucé 2019

The Twinning visit to Sucé will be from Thursday 4 July to Monday 8 July.

We are still looking for people to go on the trip, families with children are especially welcome. The default mode of travel to Sucé is by plane, but if you want to drive or take the train that is perfectly acceptable.

If you want to join us, please let us know as soon as possible, so that we can organise a host family in Sucé. Email Chris at visit@crickladetwinning.org.uk or phone 07710075406.

The flight that we have used as a default goes from Bristol.  You will need to book your own tickets on line. The flight details are EZY6023 Bristol to Nantes Thursday, 4 July 2019  12:00 returning by EZY6024 Nantes to Bristol Monday, 8 July 2019  19:25. The web link for EasyJet is "https://www.easyjet.com/EN". Be careful not to use other sites that look like they are EasyJet, they may give you the same price, but give you a bunch of other issues and difficulties.Transport to and from Bristol will be in your own car, although we hope to organise car share.

Murder Mystery Play - Saturday 6th April 2019

The Murder Mystery Evening performed by Purton Amateur Dramatic Society (PADS) at  the Cricklade Town Hall was a great success with over 80 guests.

Many thanks to PADS, who managed to bamboozle enough guests that a clear winner for the evening emerged, successfully identifying the murderer.

Many thanks to Cathy and Jane for the excellent supper. Thanks must also go to those who helped set up at the start and clean up at the end, as well as to all those who contributed raffle prizes.

The Purton Players will have an entirely new play to challenge your sleuthing abilities.

Committee Meetings

The next Committee meeting Wednesday 22nd May 8.00pm at Chris's house 6 Home Ground.

Note from the Editor

Thank you to all those who supported my Brighton Marathon run. The run didn't exactly go to plan, I was on target for 3.50 at half way then hit the wall of sodium deficiency and cramp. So ended up having to walk  the last eight odd miles dodging the onset of cramp. I finished with a heart rate of 85. So I finished in just under 6 hours, suffering from cold, a running singlet is little defence against the cold when not generating heat by running. Then to add insult to injury was the sunburn, which is still lively after more than two weeks. Still I managed to raise over £500 for the Stroke Association, which made it all very worthwhile.
