Cricklade Twinning Newsletter - Issue 109
Next year is the thirtieth anniversary of the Twinning, ideas for the activities to entertain the French during their visit are welcome.
This year has seen Jane and Gary Whinfrey move back to Gods own county, Yorkshire. Jane was one of the Association’s committee members and will be sorely missed. We wish Jane and her family the very best in their new home.
The Association has had another busy summer, starting with a bottle stall at the Cricklade Festival followed by the bi annual visit to Sucé-sur-Erdre. We flew from Bristol Airport on 4 July returning on the 8 July. Our French friends made us very welcome once again. The main event of the weekend was a meal accompanied by a live band and dancing at the bank side of the river Erdre. Next year the French will be visiting Cricklade in early July on the 30th anniversary of the twinning of the two towns. It is hoped that all in Cricklade will support us on this important anniversary.
This was followed in July by the Association’s annual BBQ. Unlike most years, the weather was kind to us, and we were able to remain outside throughout the day. A big thank you is given to Chris and Cathy Atkins for hosting this event. Thanks are also due to those who provided Raffle prizes and puddings.
